Peter W. Davidson

 

Peter has wide experience in cargo claims as well as other P&I matters, including workmen's compensation, deserters and stowaways.  He has made many appearances before Parliamentary Committees and Federal regulatory commissions in matters involving draft legislation and regulations, pilotage tariffs, carriage of goods and proposed acquisitions.  Peter is active in representing Canadian clients in charterparty disputes arbitrated in London and New York as well as Canada.

Victor DeMarco

 

Victor’s specialties include P&I cargo claims (particularly steel), collisions and other casualties, oil pollution cases, charterparty disputes, arbitration and FD&D cases.  He is active in various industry and legal organizations including the Canadian Bar Association, maritime subsection, and the Grunt Club.

Nick Spillane

 

Nick practices environmental law, and works in contamination issues, compliance, penal and contractual, including litigation (see profile).  He also practices maritime law, handling cases in all aspects of P&I, FD&D and hull coverage, whether in arbitration or before the courts, including experience with international contracts.  Nick has extensive experience in contamination and pollution cases, both on the civil side as well as on the criminal defence side.  He also practices in non-marine insurance matters and provides mediation services in commercial cases as a certified mediator.  Nick is admitted to both the Quebec (1981) and Ontario (1990) bars and has pleaded before all Courts including the Supreme Court of Canada.  He authors EnvirOptix, a blog on environmental law.

Danièle Dion

 

Danièle entered practice in 1985 as marine litigation counsel to the Canadian government following completion of degrees in Civil and Common Law as well as a Masters' degree in maritime law.  She joined the firm in 1996 and practices in P&I and FD&D matters.  Danièle’s specialties include oil pollution, personal injury, ship grounding and ISM Code-related matters.  She has experience in arbitration and other dispute resolution mechanisms.
